Erica Engman Scholarship

The Erica Engman Scholarship is made available annually through the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation. This scholarship is for an applicant in the field of surgical nursing on Unit 23 pursuing further education or advancing towards a baccalaureate or masters degree at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, and who has his/her permanent address within 100 kilometers of Red Deer. The scholarship may be withheld if a suitable candidate is not identified.

 

Erica spent her nursing career on Unit 23, first as an Undergraduate, then as a Graduate Nurse, and finally as an RN. Erica was a kind and compassionate person; patient dignity was a priority for her. Erica cared deeply for her patients and colleagues. Her passion for nursing shone through.

 

Successful applicants will be given a scholarship of $500 to cover the following levels of education:

 

  • Credit course in surgical nursing from a certified educational institution (college, university, or technical institution)

  • Clinical certification program in surgical nursing

 

Eligibility:

  • Must be pursuing further education in surgical nursing.

  • Must be a current employee of Unit 23 at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre in the area of surgical nursing.

  • Must have a demonstrated commitment to the field of surgical nursing.

    • Commitment to the field may be demonstrated in any number of ways, including committee participation, research, preceptorship, mentorship, teaching, and/or leadership.

  • Must demonstrate outstanding aptitude, academic and professional ability. High academic achievement is not a necessity.

  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

  • Must meet any additional factors established by the Selection Committee that are consistent with the aims and purpose of the scholarship.

  • The successful candidate must provide his/her social insurance number

 

Process:

Applications are accepted until March 1st, 2019.  

 

Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
