Scholarship

for Excellence in Laboratory & Diagnostic Imaging Services

Longtime supporters of health care, Lloyd and Evelyn McNeil want to help recruit and retain committed and compassionate healthcare providers in the Red Deer area.  Recognizing and understanding the significant role that laboratory professionals play in assisting physicians with the diagnoses of illness, the McNeils established a scholarship to benefit both current and aspiring laboratory services & diagnostic imaging professionals.

 

Each year, the Lloyd & Evelyn McNeil Scholarship for Excellence in Laboratory & Diagnostic Imaging Services is awarded to up to three individuals pursuing a career in laboratory services or pursuing advanced education in laboratory services and diagnostic imaging, and who has his/her permanent address within 100 kilometers of Red Deer. The scholarship may be withheld if a suitable candidate is not identified.

 

Successful applicants will receive $4,000 toward:

  • Credit course(s) in laboratory or diagnostic imaging from a certified educational institution (college, university, or technical institution)

  • An accredited program in laboratory services or diagnostic imaging

 

Eligibility:

Applicants must fulfill several requirements in order to be considered eligible for the Lloyd & Evelyn McNeil Scholarship for Excellence in Laboratory & Diagnostic Imaging Services.

  • Must be enrolled in a full-time program of study to build skills that will be applied in the field of laboratory services and diagnostic imaging.

  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

  • Must have a permanent address within a 100km radius of Red Deer.

  • Must be eligible and willing to work within a 100km radius of Red Deer

  • Must provide official transcripts & confirmation of enrollment from the registrar.

  • Must have a demonstrated aptitude for excellence, professional ability, initiative, and/or leadership.

  • The successful candidate must provide his/her social insurance number.

  • Candidates must meet any additional factors established by the Selection Committee that are consistent with the aims and purpose of the scholarship.

 

Upon meeting all of the above requirements, applicants will be selected according to their demonstrated commitment to laboratory services and diagnostic imaging.

 

Process:

Applications are accepted until March 1st, 2024.  

 

Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
