Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre is entering a transformative new chapter with the arrival of the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, the most advanced robotic-assisted surgery platform available. Made possible through donor generosity, this technology will elevate care for patients across Central Alberta.
Robotic-assisted surgery allows for greater precision through smaller incisions, reducing pain, complications, and recovery time. As Dr. Ravin Bastiampillai shares, it enables surgeons to perform complex procedures in a minimally invasive way, while also improving their own long-term health through better ergonomics.
With 10 physicians already trained, this technology is strengthening recruitment, expanding surgical capacity, and keeping more complex cases close to home, reducing wait times and improving access to high-quality care.
