A Space to Reset: Physician Hub Opens

Physicians, hospital leaders, and community partners gathered Wednesday April 15 to mark the opening of the new Physician Hub, a dedicated space at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre designed to support physician well-being, connection, and resilience.

Created in response to physician feedback, the Hub provides a place for physicians to step away, reset, and connect, an increasingly important need as healthcare pressures continue to grow in the region.

“There’s a lot happening right now,” said Dr. Adam Hall, “but it all connects back to one thing: creating an environment that supports the level of care we’re trying to deliver every day.” While modest in size, hospital leaders emphasized the Hub’s broader importance as a signal of cultural and organizational change.

“The Physician Hub is a real step forward,” said Dr. Jennifer Schendel. “It reflects a shift toward better supporting physicians in a meaningful way.”

The project was made possible through strong community investment, including support from Future AG and a $1 million contribution from MNP.

“It was the community saying: we see the pressure you’re under, and we want to support you,” said Manon Therriault, CEO of Red Deer Regional Health Foundation. “Investing in physicians… has a ripple effect. It strengthens recruitment, retention, and ultimately, patient care.”

Hospital and physician leaders noted that the Physician Hub represents both a practical improvement and a broader commitment to supporting the people who deliver care every day.
